archiemcphee:

Let’s check in on the Department of Phenomenal Footage where everyone is currently marveling at this jaw-dropping bird’s-eye view video captured using a Sony Action Cam worn on the back of a trained white-tailed eagle named Victor while he took flight over Paris from the tippy-top of the Eiffel Tower. Victor soars over the Trocadéro Gardens before returning to earth in a breathtaking 111 mph dive.

Although they’re still found elsewhere in Eurasia, white-tailed eagles have been extinct in France for over 50 years. This awesome video was arranged by FREEDOM, an international multimedia conservation project that’s working to reintroduce these gorgeous raptors to France.

As part of their fundraising efforts, the group is producing a fictional film about white-tailed eagles, entitled Freedom, an Eagle Takes Flight.
